General Release:

Please be aware that when you share, post, or upload content that is covered by intellectual property rights (original content belonging to and owned by you) on or in connection with www.themediacental.com, henceforth called TMC, you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable to upgrades of TMC, royalty-free, and worldwide license to host, move, remove, use, distribute exclusively on TMC, modify, run, copy, or display, translate and create derivative works of your content exclusively on TMC in perpetuity.

It is highly recommended that if you ever wish to publish for profit you change pertinent information prior to posting things. While you will retain rights to your original work posting anything on the internet reduces its exclusivity, and thus would diminish the value if published for profit.

The RPG forums titled "Evolution", "Short Stories", "RPG Series", "Lifestyles", "Powers That Be", "Comic Live", "I-zone", and "Back Stage"
1. Are collaborative works and as such requires the full limits of the General Release to be displayed on TMC.
2. In collaborative works determining ownership to protect the authors and owners of original works, and their rights, becomes difficult at best. Staff may only use the full extent of the General Release to maintain TMC and the RPGs and keep things moving.
3. Authors of original content posting in the above-mentioned forums grant release to other users:
A) Ability to create derivative collaborative works off postings including storylines, settings, and characters (except if noted otherwise in the bio)
B) Agree that as a collaborative work each author may only claim their own words, regarding their own original character, and not works or references to works by other authors or about other characters.
C) All collaborative work is to be considered dead content, only able to be used on TMC and not to be copied, modified, or taken from TMC for intents to distribute or publish elsewhere.
4) Above named forums also contain works that it is agreed DO belong to individual original authors, such as character bios and similar original content
A) Authorship and Ownership of these are deemed and recognized by bio approval and the oldest appropriate timestamp.
B) While Author retains full ownership rights to their IP / creations they hereby accept that no content will be removed from these forums so as to not disrupt the collaborative works of other authors
5) TMC hosts and displays this material strictly for amusement purposes and makes no claims to ownership. All opinions and actions expressed in these forums are those of their individual author and as such TMC accepts no liability for what any author posts

Limited Release Areas:

In "Media Headquarters", "Media Zone" and "Media Cafe"
1. Only post original content that does not require collaboration
2. You agree when you post original works covered by intellectual property rights (original content belonging to and owned by you) on or in connection with the above-mentioned forums you are limiting the non-exclusive rights you grant TMC to be: A) Royalty-free B) A limited to TMC worldwide license to host, move, remove, display and distribute via the internet including rights to translate C) This is granted in perpetuity.

What does it all mean?

The Limited Release is what locks down the author's rights a bit more, limiting what activities can be done with original works by the forum. So, no right to copy, modify or create works that build on and off your work.

The General Release acknowledges that authors of original work own those works, but by posting them on TMC are granting TMC the rights to do things with those work.

Or in the case of the collaborative RPG forums limits other users from taking group work elsewhere by saying if you did not write it yourself about your own character, it is not yours to use anywhere beyond TMC. All the content in between is "dead content" that cannot leave TMC or be claimed by anyone. Ownership of characters is determined by who posted its first and by who has the approved bio acknowledging ownership.

TMC Staff and Owners have no desire to steal anyone's work or even modify or delete said work any more than required. (That sounds like too much work.) We would like all users to have a fun and safe time here. That said we have no authority to stop anyone else from stealing your work and posting it elsewhere. Should we become aware of such activities we will ban the individual(s) responsible.

By posting on TMC you are hereby stating that you understand and agree with all provisions stated in the above paragraphs, have read all pertaining rules and shall abide by them.
